How to build moving rudders, elevators and ailerons?

(Photo review of building SB2C-3's rudder and elevators)

Required additional materials:


Except the elements and diagrams included in my kit, you’ll need a sheet of folio. You’ll cut from it tight strips. For your convenience you can download the file from here: strips.pdf and print it on the folio – in this way you’ll have the grid of lines at 1 mm intervals.




You'll also need some pieces of insulated wire (shown on the pic)








Stepping through the process:

1. Partially remove the isolation from the wire (As shown on the picture below)








2. Roll the discs on the remaining pieces of isolation. Here you’ll use the strips mentioned above.

Measure the diameter of the discs according to the in-scale diagrams.








3. Mount the moving elements to the internal frame as shown below:

Fix the axis to the hard frame by glue on shown points








4. Fix a surface to the disc(s) as shown:
